HOW THE GROUP WAS CREATED.

REASONS FOR SILVIA´S INTEREST IN DISABILITIES.

The different…
The marginal…
The creative…
The suffered…

After so many years of working in the decoration, repairs and furniture area, I've become an investigator with a strong propensity for social design inside the Industrial design framework of a group which belongs to the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of The Buenos Aires University

During a Congress (Access for People with Disabilities-FADU-UBA –1990) where the group has exhibited the car for the disabled-in 1990 I got very much in contact with people with disabilities and I was touched by the innate or acquire inner force they are obliged to develop in order to integrate to a social environment.
The aim of this team is to promote the integration and independence to the daily activities of the people with disabilities.

For personal purposes, I've to look after some elder persons so I've experienced some accessibility problems in the city, the lack of safety regulations at home and of daily assistive technologies and the number of accidents because of this.

I was also aware of how lonely a person can feel when facing all the difficulties that may arise when there is a disabled relative at home.
Our aim is to develop very accessible objects for the daily activities with simple and low cost ideas, very adaptable to the National situation.
Most of our work is based on our personal experience of sharing our working environment with people with disabilities. It's an enriching experience for all since we usually think about what we must do or stop doing in certain situations and later on, it's proved by the experience that we are mistaken or that we should include certain habits we've never considered important.
